Kearney Calls For Vigilance After Spate Of Break-Ins
Sinn Fein MLA Declan Kearney has called for strength in the community following a number of break-ins in Rathenraw, County Antrim, in recent days.
The Family Caring Centre was ransacked on Thursday 25 October, an occurrence which the South Antrim MLA said left staff and patrons traumatised.
A family home in the Norfolk Square area of Rathenraw was also broken into, on the evening of Saturday 27 October, while the residents were out.
"Those responsible for these break-ins are opportunist criminals with no regard whatsoever for the consequences of their actions," Mr Kearney said.
"They will continue to prey on the vulnerable unless they are caught and made to answer for their crimes.
"I am appealing for the whole community to be vigilant and watch out for each other, especially elderly neighbours who are particularly vulnerable."
The Sinn Fein MLA also urged residents in the area to contact the PSNI without hesitation if they believe they have witnessed anything suspicious.
"Sharing information could help prevent a neighbour falling victim to other acts of criminality" he added.
