Britain First Leader Arrested In Belfast

The leader of Britain First, Paul Golding, has been arrested in Belfast in connection with an incident in Ballymena last Saturday, 20 October.

It comes as the political organisation is planning to hold a rally in the County Antrim this week.

Posters advertising the protest claim that Britain First is "leading the campaign against this huge wave of immigration" and "demanding an immediate halt" in Ballymena.

The rally follows recent simmering tensions over a sudden surge of Romanian migrants moving into the area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A 36-year-old man was arrested by police last night in the east Belfast area in connection with public order offences in Ballymena on 20 October. He remains in police custody."
