Met Office Issues Yellow Weather Warning For NI

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind covering Northern Ireland to take affect on Friday, 12 October.

A spell of windy weather is expected which may have the potential to cause some disruption.

The warning is in place from 3am on until midnight.

Possible disruption may include:

• A small chance of injuries and danger to life with the potential for large waves and beach material to be thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads or properties.

• Possible closure of some roads and bridges.

• A slight chance of damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

• Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

• Chance of power cuts, with the potential to affect other services such as mobile phone coverage.

Concerns Raised For B&Q Workers In L'Derry
Concerns have been raised for B&Q workers in L'Derry. The firm announced it is to close its store at the Faustina Retail Park on the Buncrana Road early next year. SDLP Foyle Westminster candidate Mark Durkan said the news will come as a huge blow to workers and their families.
