Police Appeal To Hit And Run Driver To Come Forward

Police in L'Derry have issued an appeal to a female driver involved in a hit and run last week to come forward.

The incident took place at around 11.30am on Friday 05 October at the Spar Petrol Station on the Buncrana Road.

An elderly woman was left injured when she was knocked down by a female driver who failed to stop at the scene.

Officers appealed to the driver in a post on PSNI Foyle's Facebook page.

"Usually I'd ask for witnesses to come forward but I'd like to think if you saw an old lady getting knocked down you would have already been in touch," a spokesperson wrote.

"I am therefore reaching out to the female driver who hit this lady and left. Show some humanity and get in touch. Your conscience has to be kicking in!

"You've two approaches: 1. You've been scared & silly and will sheepishly hand yourself in to Police whilst dripping with remorse. 2. Police have to dig and dig and then land at your door and you get led away in handcuffs.

"I wonder which scenario a judge would look more favourably on."
