Belfast Man Dies While On Holiday In Benidorm

A man from west Belfast has died unexpectedly while on holiday in Spain.

Paul McOwen was staying in a Benidorm resort with a group of friends when he suddenly passed away.

It is understood an autopsy has been carried out today, 14 September, to establish the cause of death.

Woman Receives Suspended Sentence For Benefit Fraud

A Belfast woman has been prosecuted at Belfast Magistrates' Court for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Karen Broad, 31, of York Park, Belfast claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £3,649 while failing to declare employment.

She was given a two-month prison sentence suspended for two years and was told to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.

NI Water Takes Part In Holywood Beach Clean

NI Water has taken part in a beach cleaning operation at Craigavad near Holywood.

Working alongside the Marine Conservation Society, the Wastewater team picked up, recorded and bagged items of plastic and marine litter across a 100-metre stretch of the coast.

NI Water Head of Wastewater, Stephanie McCullagh, said: "The idea to take part in the Marine Conservation Society Beach Clean came through the Wastewater Employee Engagement Group. Taking part is important to the team as it links with the customer promises we strive daily to achieve such as to protect and enhance the natural environment and to take care of the wastewater so it doesn't pollute the environment.

"We are proud to be a part of a UK wide initiative and it is great to know that we can contribute to understanding the size of issues on our coastline whilst hosting this team building event.

"Employee engagement is important to the Wastewater Senior Management Team. The event has provided colleagues from within the Wastewater Team, who have different roles and may not get to meet each other on a regular basis, to do so in a meaningful and enjoyable way."
