Firmus Energy Announced 12% Price Increase
Firmus Energy have announced a 12% price hike from 01 October.
The firm's 87,000 customers will see their typical annual bill rise by between £65 and £75.
The company blamed an increase in the wholesale market.
Firmus is the latest energy supplier to announce a price increase, with SSE Airtricity previously announcing an 11% price increase.
Historic Monuments Council Board Appointments Extended
The Chair of the Historic Monuments Council (HMC), Professor Gabriel Cooney, has had his second term appointment extended until 31 January, 2019, the Department for Communities has announced.
Professor Cooney has been Chair of the Council from 1 February 2009.
The Dept also announced that the following HMC Members have been reappointed for a term of three years and six months from 01 August 2018: Mr William Darby; Miss Kate Laverty; and Mrs Sarah Witchell.
They have all served on the HMC from 01 February 2012.
Ferry Worker Airlifted From Stenaline
A ferry worker who had fallen ill onboard the Stena Lagan has been airlifted in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, 06 September.
The worker on the Liverpool to Belfast ferry was reported ill at about 3.45am.
Coastguard set up a medi-link call with a doctor and it was advised he be evacuated from the ship, which was off the Isle of Man.
Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936 from North Wales was tasked and winched the casualty from the vessel. Rescue 936 proceeded to a Helicopter Landing Site on the Boucher Road, which was secured by Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team, and the casualty handed over to Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

General Consumer Council attacks gas price hike
The General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland has voiced its disapproval at plans by Phoenix Natural Gas to raise domestic and business prices for its customers. The gas firm announced on Tuesday that it is to increase its gas prices from 1 October by an average of 10.8%.

SOS For Sinking Ferry Service
As a scenic cross border transport link remains in jeopardy, a Coleraine Sinn Féin councillor has urged NI Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster to take action to save the ferry. Billy Leonard wants the DUP Minister to play her part along with other Stormont Executive colleagues to save the Magilligan ferry service to Greencastle.

Firmus Energy Confirms 35% Natural Gas Price Increase
Firmus Energy has announced a 35% increase in natural gas prices from 01 October 2021. The energy company has said that the price rise in the result of "substantial rises in global wholesale gas prices" and said that the change in tariff will mean an extra £3.33 per week on to the average household bill, bringing prices back to 2018/2019 levels.
