£75,000 Resurfacing Scheme To Begin In Belfast
The Department for Infrastructure has announced that a £75,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on Great Georges Street, Belfast on Saturday 8 September 2018.
Resurfacing from Nelson Street to York Street will begin on Saturday 8 September 2018 with completion expected on Sunday 16 September 2018.
To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors during the resurfacing, the works will be carried out under the following road closures:
• Sat 8 Sept from 9.00 pm to Sun 9 Sept at 8.00 pm; and
• Sun 16 Sept from 6.00 am until 8.00 pm.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signed. Road users are asked to comply with the temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.
Handgun Found In Newry
A handgun has been discovered in a bin in an alleyway in Newry.
The PSNI found the firearm in the John Martin Street area at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, -4 September.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
Urgent Call For New CT Scanner To Be Installed In Daisy Hill Hospital
Sinn Fein is calling for a new CT scanner to be installed in the Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, Co Armagh.
MP Mickey Brady made the call following a meeting with Southern Health & Social Care Trust.
He said: "There is an urgent need for a new CT scanner. The age, condition and effectiveness of the current machine is a cause of great concern and I am aware that it recently broke down again.
"Daisy Hill Acute Hospital is in the largest locality in the Southern Trust in Newry & Mourne, and also provides for the wider catchment population.
"It is essential to increase capacity to meet future demand, to further improve quality and safety and that investment and funding for new, up to date major CT and MRI scanning equipment is made available as a matter of urgency."
