Royal Avenue Social Security Office Reopens

Following safety checks due to the fire at Primark, normal service will resume at the Department for Communities offices in CastleCourt and Royal Avenue Social Security Office today, Thursday 30 August.

The building will be open as normal for staff access and service to customers will recommence from 9am for anyone visiting Royal Avenue Social Security Office and/or contacting the Department about: Personal Independence Payment (PIP); Disability Living Allowance (DLA); Carers Allowance; Attendance Allowance; Welfare Supplementary Payments; Universal Credit remains unaffected.

The Department thanked their customers for their understanding during its closure.

Royal Mail Boosts Barnardo's
Northern Ireland is to figure in a major Royal Mail Group bid to raise funds for the first ever Barnardo's Believe in Children Month Appeal. To mark the month long event, disabled, ultra-distance athlete Chris Moon will be embarking on the ultimate challenge by running an average of 36 miles a day for 30 days - a distance of more than 1000 miles.

Belfast to be sole vehicle tax office open next week
Belfast will have the only Local Vehicle Licensing Office open to the public next week as the civil service staff union escalates strike action over pay. DVLNI said it had been advised by NIPSA of continuous strike action by their members from Monday 26 April.

Rural Post Offices get funding boost
Some of Northern Ireland's most deprived rural areas received a boost today on the launch of a £750,000 fund to support Post Office branches. The Government said it hoped the Fund would help sub postmasters to develop and improve services for their local communities.

The 'listening' post office has announced it is to heed at least some of the matters raised in its recent public consultation on proposed NI branch closures - and is going to spare a total of four outlets originally earmarked to shut or change status.
