Omagh Bombing Memorial Service Held
A memorial service has been held to mark the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Omagh bombing.
The names of the 29 people killed in the attack in August, 1998, were read one by one as wreaths were laid at the memorial gardens in the Co Tyrone town.
Survivors and the families of victims were joined by representatives of the British, Irish and Spanish governments – reflecting the nationalities of victims.
A 500lb bomb inside a stolen red Vauxhall Cavalier was detonated by remote on Market Street at 3.10pm on Saturday 15 August, 1998 – four months after the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
The bombing has been described as the "single deadliest atrocity in the history of the Troubles".
No one has been convicted in connection with the bombing.

Dispute Over Omagh Memorial
A planned memorial to victims of the Omagh bombing has faced fresh controversy over the inscription for the victims' families. Plans for the memorial were announced today by Omagh District Council, but it is understood that the wording on the plaque is still to be agreed.

Man arrested in connection with bomb alerts
A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an investigation into over 150 bomb alerts in Omagh since 1998. The Letterkenny man was arrested following a joint investigation by the PSNI and Garda Siochana. He is currently being held at Lifford garda station in Co Donegal, where he can be detained for up to 72 hours.
