Murder Investigation Launched Into Missing Belfast Woman

A murder investigation has launched following the disappearance of Saoirse Smyth from Belfast.

She went missing in April last year and the PSNI issued a missing person appeal in December 2017, however she was never found.

A 40-year-old man was detained in the Newry area on Wednesday, 04 July, and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Saoirse had very distinctive red hair and has not had any contact with her family or friends during the period of her disappearance.

Police are appealing to anyone that has seen her or contact her since January 2017 to get in touch.
