Renewed Appeal For Information On Death Of Man In North Belfast

Detectives investigating the death of a man in north Belfast last Thursday have renewed their appeal for information.

Robert Edward Joseph Molloy Jones, 30, was found seriously injured just after 9pm on Thursday, 28 June in the area of Parkmount Street/Seaview Close.

Robert received emergency care at the scene before being taken by ambulance to hospital, where he died a short time later.

A 21-year-old man arrested on Thursday night on suspicion of murder remains in custody and is assisting police with their enquiries. Detectives have been granted a 36-hour extension to question him.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery said: "The community in the local area may hold vital information which could help to establish the circumstances surrounding Robert's murder. I would like to thank the community for the help they have provided so far and would appeal to those with any information to contact detectives.

"I would particularly like to speak with anyone who was the area of Parkmount Street or Seaview Close between 8pm and 9.30pm on Thursday and who witnessed anything to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1487 of 28/06/18. Alternatively information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Chang Mang Wang was handed a two-year and three-month sentence at Belfast Crown Court for possession and conspiracy to supply Class B controlled drugs, as well as a two-year sentence for immigration offences.

Man Seriously Injured in Lisburn Assault
Detectives are investigating a serious assault that occurred in Lisburn during the early hours of Saturday, 19 October. Police received a report at around 1:00am that a man in his 20s had been assaulted after an argument broke out outside a licensed premises in the Queensway area.

Coleraine Man Sentenced For Cybercrime
A 25-year-old man has been sentenced for his involvement in a large-scale cybercrime attack. Andrew Kelly from the Coleraine area pleaded guilty to six counts under the Computer Misuse Act and one count under the Fraud Act in June. At Antrim Crown Court, Kelly was sentenced to 16 months in prison, which was suspended for four years.

Man Arrested After L'Derry Ramming Incident
A man has been arrested following a dangerous driving incident in the city on the afternoon of Thursday 17 October. Multiple reports were received by police around 1:45pm of a silver-coloured Lexus being driven recklessly in areas including Creggan Heights, Westway, and Central Drive.
