Men Armed With Machetes Break Into House In Newry

A teenager has been injured after men armed with machetes broke into a house in Newry.

The incident happened in the Talbot Street area at around 2am on Tuesday, 05 June.

A 17-year-old boy is receiving hospital treatment after he sustained injuries to his nose and cuts to his arms and leg.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Armed Robbers Target Parochial House In Newry
Two men, one of whom was carrying a gun, have robbed a parochial house in Newry. The pair entered St Catherine's Dominican Priory in Dominic Street at approximately 20.30pm on Thursday. They threatened staff who were in the house at the time and made off with a sum of money.

The police are now questioning three men after a shot assistant was shot in the stomach during a failed armed robbery attempt in Newry at the weekend. It happened at about 11.35pm on Sunday when a man armed with a handgun entered a gaming arcade at Upper Water Street.

Police Probe Newry Armed Robbery
Police are investigating after a man was held at gunpoint during a robbery in his home in Newry, County Down. Two masked men armed with shotguns entered the premises in Chapel Street at around 9.30 on Monday evening. The men threatened the owner before making off with a substantial sum of cash in a dark coloured car.

£250k Resurfacing Announced For Newry Road
A major £250,000 road resurfacing scheme has been announced for the A25 Newry Road. The works will comprise of approximately 0.65km of carriageway resurfacing of the A25 Newry Road through Camlough village, from south of the U1583, known as Hall Road, to just beyond C217 Chapel Road roundabout.
