North West 200 Rider Brought To Hospital Following Practice Crash

A North West 200 rider has been airlifted to hospital following a crash during an opening practice session today, 15 May.

The unnamed motorcyclist was involved in an incident with another driver at the University Corner section of the course and sustained some injuries.

Practice was delayed for around 45 minutes following the incident.

A further practice session will take place on Thursday morning, 17 May.

The opening three races of the meeting will take place later on Thursday.

Saturday, the main day of action, will see five races including both Superbike races.

Bursary For Film-Maker's Chinese Mission
A University of Ulster student has beaten off competition from young UK film-makers to win a bursary to help him make his dissertation documentary in China. Ryan Xiayang Wu, 25, was one of just four emerging film-makers chosen in a nationwide competition by the charity, One World Media, to receive support from its Student Documentary Fund 2009.
