Elderly Man Left 'Badly Shaken' Following House Burglary
A man in his 70s has been left badly shaken following an aggravated burglary at his home in Holywood.
Detectives believe two to three men entered the house in the Downshire Road area of the town just before 10.45pm on Friday, 11 May. The householder was in bed at the time.
One man ran upstairs to the victim's bedroom and tied his wrists with cable ties. The man claimed he had a weapon and demanded money, before dragging the victim down a flight of stairs.
The two men then struggled before a neighbour came to the house and raised the alarm just before 11pm. The suspects then fled the scene.
Detective Sergeant Miskelly said the Northern Ireland Ambulance Serve attended the scene and treated the victim.
"Although not physically hurt in the incident, he was left very badly shaken," he said.
"A mobile phone and a cordless landline phone were stolen from the house, which we believe may have been done to prevent the householder calling for help."
A 32-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of aggravated burglary. A 25-year-old man was then arrested on Saturday, 12 May on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to steal.
Both suspects have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Miskelly said anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 1489 of 11/5/18, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
