Man Arrested In Connection With Matthew Boyd Murder

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection the murder of Matthew Boyd 15 years ago.

The suspect was detained by detectives from the Legacy Investigations Branch in Belfast today, 10 May.

Mr Boyd was discovered slumped over the steering wheel of his Red Vauxhall Astra Estate car on the Donaghmore Road outside Dungannon shortly after 3pm on 11 January 1993. He had been shot twice.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries but passed away later that evening.

The suspect arrested today has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station for questioning.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the Donaghmore Road area on the day in question and who witnessed the murder, or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation, to contact the Legacy Investigations Branch on 101.

A 49-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Matthew Boyd 15 years ago has been released unconditionally, the PSNI have reported. In January 1993, Mr Boyd was discovered slumped over the steering wheel of his car with two gunshot wounds on the Donaghmore Road outside Dungannon.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Man Arrested Over Stephen Warnock Murder Released
A 40-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Stephen Warnock has been released unconditionally. Mr Warnock was fatally shot in Newtownards as he sat in his car in September 2002. The senior LVF member was shot over 15 times by a gunman on a motorbike.

Renewed Appeal On 31st Anniversary Of Peter McCormick Murder
Detectives from Legacy Investigation Branch have issued a fresh appeal for information on the 31st anniversary of the murder of Peter McCormick. On 19 November 1992, the 42 year old former teacher from Drumena Road in Kilcoo, was shot dead when two gunmen burst into the Thierafurth Inn and opened fire on customers inside at around 9pm.
