New A-Z Guide for People with Disabilities launched

A new improved A-Z Guide for People with Disabilities was launched today by the Social Security Agency.

The guide, produced in partnership with Disability Action and completely revised for 2004, provides information on everything from Aids and Equipment for people with disabilities to Social Security Benefits.

Speaking at the launch of the event at Malone House, Anne Flanagan, Customer Service Director said: "It is vital that we reach out to the people who use our services. The A-Z Guide helps us provide a wide range of information in one source for people with disabilities. The guide is an invaluable resource for people with disabilities, their carers and other people in the sector and has proved to be very successful since its inception in 2002."

Monica Wilson, Chief Executive, Disability Action added: "Publications like this are important sources of information for people with disabilities and we would encourage people to get this free guide in order to ensure that they have as much information as possible on the range of services available to disabled people in Northern Ireland."

The updated guide also has a new section on pensions as well as revised contact details for all the organisations featured, to ensure that people with disabilities have up-to-date information.

The A-Z Guide is available from Social Security and Jobs & Benefits offices.

More than one in five (300,000) people in Northern Ireland has a disability.
