McFarland Named New Head Coach Of Ulster

Dan McFarland has been named the new head coach of Ulster on a three-year contract.

He will remain as Scotland's assistant coach for nine months and will leave before next year's Six Nations.

Mr McFarland said: "I am really excited that I will be taking on the Ulster Head Coach role. I know firsthand from my years visiting with Connacht and Glasgow the passion and fervour that makes playing in front of Ulster fans so special.

"It's a club with a great history and I welcome the challenge of being a part of their future."

Minister Reacts To Teachers' Union Ballot Threat
Education Minister Paul Givan has responded to the announcement by several teachers' unions that they plan to ballot their members for industrial action over 2024/25 pay. Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.

Ulster Rugby Name New Head Coach
Ulster Rugby has named Jono Gibbes as its new head coach. The 40-year-old will join the club on a two-year deal this summer. Gibbes, who is a former New Zealand player himself, is currently forwards coach at French side Clermont Auvergne. He previously worked at Leinster Rugby, helping the team to three Heineken Cup victories.

'Nevin Spence Centre' Planned For Ravenhill
A new education and heritage centre being built at Ulster Rugby's Ravenhill stadium is to be named after the late Nevin Spence, who died in a farming accident along with his brother Graham and father Noel in September last year. The centre is part of a £14.7m redevelopment of the ground and will be called 'The Nevin Spence Centre'.
