SDLP Leader Stands In Solidarity With Sinn Féin's Kevin Campbell

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has condemned an arson attack at the home of Sinn Féin councillor Kevin Campbell.

Mr Campbell's Renault Modus was burnt out in an arson attack as it was parked in the driveway of his home in Creggan in the early hours of Sunday, 03 April.

Mr Eastwood said that "we will not be dragged back to the past and anyone with any information should go to the police".

He continued: "The SDLP stands with Cllr Campbell and his family today. Those responsible for this attack are thugs who will not prevail.

"We will not be dragged back to the past. Public representatives have a mandate from the community to serve local people. Those responsible for these actions do not speak for our community.

"Anyone with any information should go immediately to the police."

"Our thoughts are with Cllr Campbell and his family.

Cllr Tierney said:"I completely condemn this attack on Councillor Campbell's car. Those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.

"My thoughts are with Kevin Campbell and his family today. This is a scary ordeal for any family. Having recently had a similar attack on my own vehicle at my home, I know how the family are feeling.

"I urge anyone with any information to contact the police."
