Drop In Unemployment Rate In NI

The number of unemployed people in Northern Ireland has fallen in the three months to January 2018, according to the latest Labour Market survey.

The employment rate rose to 69.8%, however it remains below the UK average of 75.3%.

The data was published by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).

Over 28,500 people are currently claiming unemployment-related benefits, and figures for February revealed a drop in unemployment by 100.

Drop In Number Of People Claiming Unemployment Benefits
The number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Northern Ireland has dropped to 38,700, a decrease of 500 over the month. New figures released for the period September to November 2015 show that the Northern Ireland Labour Force Survey unemployment rate was 5.9%, a drop of 0.1% over the quarter.

Drop In Number Of People Claiming Unemployment Benefits
There has been a drop in the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Northern Ireland. According to the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA), 500 fewer people were claiming unemployment benefits in November, bring the total to 33,600. The Northern Ireland rate of 5.7% is above the UK average.

Number Of People Unemployed In NI Falls
The number of people unemployed in Northern Ireland has fallen for the second consecutive year. Newly-published figures by the Department of Trade and Enterprise revealed that in December 2014, the number of people claiming unemployment benefit in NI fell by 900 from the previous month, and now stands at 50,200.
