Investigation Launched Following Fire In Carrickfergus

An investigation has launched after significant damage was caused to a house and neighbouring properties in Carrickfergus.

The blaze started at a property on Victoria Road at around 3pm on Wednesday, 14 March.

Emergency services attended the scene and put the fire out.

No injuries were reported.

Detective Sergeant Peter Crothers said: "Anyone with information should contact detectives in Larne on 101 quoting reference 795 of 14/03/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Substation Vandals Leave 6,000 Properties Without Electricity
Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), the network company, has strongly condemned the deliberate interference with electricity equipment in the Ballysillan area on Sunday and Monday nights. Vandals broke into the substation after 11pm on Sunday night, interfering with equipment and leaving over 6,000 properties without power.

Two Homes Burgled In Co Antrim
Police are investigating a possible link between two burglaries in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim. The incidents occurred at properties in the Glenville Manor area and in Abbeyhill Way between noon and 10.50pm on Saturday. A sum of cash was taken from both properties and a quantity of jewellery was also stolen.

Tesco To Cut Opening Hours At Four Stores In NI
Four Tesco stores in Northern Ireland will no longer be open for 24 hours. The move will effect stores in Banbridge, Carrickfergus, Enniskillen and Antrim Massereene. The outlets will now open from 6am to midnight from 7 November.
