Belfast man denies terrorist articles charge

A Belfast man has denied charges of having articles likely to be of use to terrorists.

Edwin Jones, 35, from Dunraven Court in east Belfast, who appeared before Belfast Magistrate's Court on Friday, was arrested on Thursday following a police search of eight separate houses in east Belfast.

The court heard that a number of items were seized during the searches, including ammunition pouches, flares, two-way radios and police issue gun belt.

Mr Jones who denied the charge was remanded in custody until February 6.

Man Arrested Over Shooting Attack In North Belfast Released Unconditionally
A man arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in north Belfast has been released unconditionally. A 30-year-old man was shot in both legs in the Velsheda Court area of Ardoyne on Monday, 02 October. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A 51-year-old was detained after a search, however he has since been released.

Joe Reilly Murder: Man Arrested
A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Joe Reilly. Mr Reilly, 43, was shot at his home in the Glenwood Court area of Poleglass, west Belfast, on 20 October. The suspect was arrested on Monday, 19 December, and has been taken to Musgrave Police station to be questioned.

Youth Released Without Charge Over Double Murder Inquiry
The teenager arrested in connection with inquiries into the deaths of two men in Belfast last March has been released without charge. Police had arrested the 16-year-old male on Tuesday in west Belfast. Edward Burns, 36, was found shot dead at Bog Meadows in west Belfast in the early hours of March 12, 2007.
