Man And Woman Charged In Connection With Sexual Abuse Of Children

A man and woman have been charged as part of an investigation into the sexual abuse of children.

The man, aged 58, and woman, aged 57, were arrested following the search of a house in the Kinghill Avenue area in Newcastle.

The charges include gross indecency with a child, indecent assault, and making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

The suspects are due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court today, Thursday, 01 February.

Child Indecency Trial Underway In Dublin
The trial of a former Marist brother and teacher at a Sligo School on indecency charges has begun in Dublin. Christopher Cosgrove, 66, has pleaded not guilty at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday to a total of 84 charges of indecently assaulting six boys aged between nine and 11 years of age.

A sex offender, who went missing from a bail hostel in Lancashire, has given himself up to police. William Knowles, 44, originally from Larne in County Antrim, failed to sign on at the hostel in Bury on Tuesday afternoon.

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson And Wife Appear In Court
Former DUP Leader, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife, Lady Eleanor Donaldson, have appeared before Newry Magistrates Court charged with a number of historical sex offences. Donaldson, 61, is facing a total of 11 charges, including one charge of rape, one of gross indecency involving a child and nine charges of indecent assault.

Woman Found Unconscious On Co Down Road
A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.
