Second Man Released In Denis Donaldson Murder Investigation

A second man arrested in connection with the murder of MI5 agent Denis Donaldson has been released without charge.

Mr Donaldson, aged 55, who was a senior Sinn Fein official, was fatally shot at a cottage in Co Donegal in 2006 after being exposed as a British spy.

Two men were arrested by gardai on Sunday, 07 January, and one was released on Monday.

A second man was also released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Gardai are continuing to appeal to anyone with information to contact them.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man arrested in connection with murder
One man has been arrested following the murder of a man in Co Down last month. Andrew Cully, a father of teenage boys from Greyabbey, was shot up to 10 times as he sat in his parked car in the loyalist West Winds estate in Newtownards on 24 March.

Second Man Arrested In Connection With Ards Mosque Attack
PSNI detectives investigating the attempted arson of a mosque in Newtownards have arrested a second man. The attack occurred in Greenwell Street in the early hours of Saturday, 10 August. A 42-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 11 August, in connection with the attack. He has since been released on police bail.

Man Stabbed In East Belfast
A man has been stabbed in the abdomen in east Belfast. The victim was walking along Ravensdale Street with a friend just after 7pm on Saturday, 03 February. He was approached by a group of around five men and one is believed to have stabbed the man. The second man was not injured.

DUP Backs Campaign For Elizabeth The Faithful Title
The DUP have backed a campaign to bestow the late Queen with the name Elizabeth The Faithful. According to reports, Queen Elizabeth had been referred to as Elizabeth the Great since her passing, but after Security Minister Tom Tugendhat called her Elizabeth The Faithful, a campaign has grown to support this becoming her official, posthumous title.
