Jack and Emma most popular NI baby names
Jack and Emma were the most popular names given to Northern Ireland children born in 2003.
The figures, researched by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency, showed that the name Emma moved up from joint seventh place and Jack moved up from second place in 2002.
For boys Matthew and Jack have alternately been the most popular names from 2000. This year Matthew moved from the most popular name in 2002, to the second most popular in 2003 while Adam moved up one place to third.
For girls, Chloe had been the most popular name for the past six years since 1997 but this year moved down from first to fourth place. Katie has moved up one place to become the second most popular girl’s name and Caitlin has moved down one place to become the third most popular girl’s name in 2003.
Over the past few years there have been approximately 1,500 different girl’s and 1,000 different boy’s names used every year.

Emily And James Most Popular Baby Names In 2015
Emily and James were the most popular baby names in 2015, according to statistics from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. Emily has been the most popular girls' name in the past three years, albeit jointly with Grace in 2013. However, this is the first time James has held the top spot since records began in 1997.

NI Baby Names 'More Diverse', Says Survey
According to a recent survey Northern Ireland parents have become more diverse in terms of first names they have given their babies. The research revealed that in 2011, there were approximately 2,200 girls' and 1,600 boys' names used; compared with 1,600 girls' and 1,000 boys' names in 2001.
