On The Run Prisoner Arrested In North Belfast

A 52-year-old man who failed to return to Maghaberry Prison has been arrested.

James Valliday had been "unlawfully at large" and was detained at an address in north Belfast on Sunday, 17 December.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to appeal for information to help trace missing prisoner Charles Valliday, who also failed to return to the jail on the same date.

He is described as 5ft 9ins in height, of stocky build, with short, brown hair, protruding ears and green eyes. He has a tattoo on his left arm – a bulldog, panther and snake - and a fish tattoo on his right arm.

Prisoner Unlawfully At Large Arrested In Antrim
A prisoner who was on remand and was unlawfully at large since November last year has been arrested in Co Antrim. Charles Valliday, aged 46, escaped after being granted compassionate leave to attend a funeral. He was found at an address in the Springfarm area on Monday, 30 April. He has since returned to prison.

Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of Assisting A Prisoner
A 33-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting a prisoner who was released in error from Maghaberry, just outside Lisburn. Michael Smith, 38, was mistakenly released on 07 March while on remand for murder. Police arrested him in the Carryduff area in south Belfast on Wednesday, 05 April.

Man Arrested Following Lisburn Assault Released
A man arrested following an assault in Lisburn has been released on bail pending further enquiries, according to the PSNI. The 21-year-old was arrested following an incident in the Rathvarna Drive and Beechwood Grove area at around 1.30am on Tuesday, 12 July.
