Yellow Warning For Ice And Snow

A yellow warning for snow and ice is in place across Northern Ireland following what is said to have been the coldest night of the year.

The Met Office reported that ice has formed on surfaces, with higher ground expected to see continued snowfall. A mixture of rain and sleet is expected across lower areas throughout the day.

Black ice has been reported on the roads, with driving conditions said to be "treacherous". Roads and some rail lines are expected to be affected with longer and more difficult journeys.

The weather warning, first issued last week, has been continually updated throughout the weekend, and is currently in place until 4pm today (Monday 11 December), at which point it will be reviewed.
