Member Of Public Restrains Armed Robber In Larne

Police have launched an investigation after a member of the public restrained an armed robber in Larne.

The incident happened at a shop in the Upper Cairncastle Road area at around 7pm on Wednesday, 29 November.

A man, armed with a knife, entered the premises and demanded money from female staff members.

A member of the public managed to restrain the suspect who has been remanded in custody.

Detective Sergeant Pete Crothers from CID in Larne said: "We are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information about this crime. The number to call is 101."

The gang left the house through the front door, however it is unclear if they made off on foot or in a vehicle.

Armed Gang Force Into House In Larne
Police are appealing for information after a gang of men, armed with baseball bats, forced their way into a house in Larne. The incident happened at a property in the Lindara area shortly before 1am this morning, 17 October. The men were all dressed in black and had other weapons.

Police have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a takeaway in Co Antrim. The incident happened at premises on the Upper Cairncastle Road in Larne at around 1.30pm on Wednesday. A man, armed with a suspected gun, entered the shop and made off with a sum of cash.

Four Courthouses To Close
Justice Minister David Ford has confirmed the closure of four court Hearing Centres. on the future of five court Hearing Centres. Following a consultation exercise the Minister has decided to close the Hearing Centres at Bangor, Larne, Limavady and Magherafelt and retain the Hearing Centre in Strabane.
