Murder Inquiry Launched After Woman's Body Found In West Belfast

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a woman's body was discovered in west Belfast on Friday, 06 October.

Her body was found at a flat in the Larkspur Rise area.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and is being detained in police custody.

No further details have been released.

SDLP West Belfast Councillor Brian Heading said: "This was a heinous crime against a vulnerable member of our community.

"Local people are absolutely shocked that something like this could happen here.

"If anyone has any information about this crime or saw anything suspicious in the area last week, I would encourage them to come forward as soon as possible.

"My thoughts and prayers, and those of my party colleagues, are with the woman's family at this extremely distressing time."

Man Charged Following Discovery Of Woman's Body In West Belfast
A man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman who is it believed lay undiscovered in a west Belfast flat for more than two years. The body of 68-year-old Marie Conlon was discovered at the flat on Larkspur Rise on Friday 06 October. Detectives investigating the death detained the 23-year-old man on Wednesday 11 October.

Police launch murder inquiry after body found in west Belfast
The police have begun a murder investigation after a man's body was found in west Belfast. The body of the man, named as David McDowell (34) from Battenburg Street, was discovered on a footpath at the junction of Lanark Way and the Shankill Road at about 4.30am on Thursday.
