Brexit Negotiator To Meet With Taoiseach In Dublin

The European Parliament's Brexit negotiator is to meet the Taoiseach in Dublin today, 21 September.

Guy Verhofstadt met with NI political parties at Stormont on Wednesday, 20 September, and said that NI could remain in the customs union, however the UK Government must find a solution for the Irish border.

He also met with business and community leaders during his visit.

Mr Verhofstadt, a former Belgian prime minister, is the link between EU negotiators and MEPs.

Over 88% Of Cancer Patients Begin Treatment Within 31 Days
Over 88% of people diagnosed with cancer began treatment within the 31 day target in the four months to September 2022, up from 86% in the previous four months. The Department of Health today published the Northern Ireland Cancer Waiting Times Statistics Release for the quarter ending September 2022.

Driving Tests Increase By 13% In September
The Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) received 6,661 driving test applications in September, 13% higher than in August (5,872) and some 37% higher than the five year September average (4,888). This is according to the latest 'DVA Monthly Tests Conducted Statistics – September 2021' report.

2,000 Social Homes To Be Improved
2,000 social homes across Northern Ireland are to be improved under a new refurbishment scheme set for the next three years. The Stock Transfer Programme, part of Housing Minister Nelson McCausland’s housing strategy 'Facing the Future', will have three phases beginning in September 2013 through to September 2014.
