Police Appeal After Two Boys Assaulted In West Belfast

Police are appealing for information after two 12-year-old boys were attacked in west Belfast.

They were walking towards a bus stop in the Andersonstown area on Wednesday, 06 September, at around 4.30pm when they were approached by a group if unknown male youths.

The boys felt something on their necks and one of them fell to the ground, according to the PSNI.

He was treated in hospital however his injury is not believed to be life threatening.

Police are working to establish what type of weapon was used.

Sergeant Tom Donnelly has appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact police at Woodbourne on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 811 06/09/17.

Apprentice Boys march banned from Ardoyne
An Apprentice Boys march which is scheduled to pass the mainly nationalist Ardoyne district in north Belfast next week has been banned. The Parades Commission said it had come to its decision as such a march would have "an adverse effect on fragile community relations".
