Residents Flee Homes Following Overnight Flooding

A number of residents had to leave their homes after torrential rain caused serious flooding in Co L'Derry and the north west on Tuesday night, 22 August.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Recue Service (NIFRS) said they responded to around 60 incidents, and a number of people were also trapped in their vehicles due to the flooding.

Coastguard Rescue teams and Lough Neagh Rescue Swiftwater Rescue Teams also helped.

A number of roads in the area remain impassable and motorists are being urged to drive with caution.

Train services between Coleraine and Antrim have also been cancelled and buses in the area have also been delayed.
