Equality Commission To Host Employer Training Sessions
The Equality Commission's Advisory Services Team has announced a number of training sessions throughout Northern Ireland for employers and service providers.
The events cover some of the most common enquiries received by the Equality Commission each year and will help keep employers on the right side of the law.
The current training programme covers a number of half-day events from September to December 2017 taking place in Belfast, Cookstown, Craigavon, Derry~Londonderry and Omagh.
Employer training topics include:
• Introduction to understanding equality
• Recruiting fairly
• Managing bullying & harassment at work
• Pregnancy & maternity at work
• Absence and performance management
• Reasonable steps defence
• How to complete an article 55 review
• Disability equality in the workplace
• Section 49 of the Disability Discrimination Act and disability action plans
• Section 75 duties - a focus on screening management
The events are free to attend and registration is open now at the Equality Commission's website.

New Employment Equality Regulations
Recruitment specialists, Blue Arrow, have warned businesses not to be caught out by new Employment Equality Regulations. The Regulations, which are designed to outlaw any forms of direct or indirect discrimination against an individual on the grounds of religious belief or sexual orientation, were introduced at the start of December 2003.
