Five released by police investigating murder

Five people arrested for questioning in connection with a police inquiry into the murder of a Co Antrim man last month, have been released without charge.

Ballyclare man, John Allen, 31, died after being shot in the head and legs by two masked men at a flat in the town on November 8.

He was taken to Antrim Area Hospital were he later died.

Police believe loyalist paramilitaries may have been behind the killing.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder Following Attack In Co Antrim
A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a serious attack outside licensed premises in Toomebridge, Co Antrim. The assault happened outside the Elk Inn on the Hillhead Road at around 2am on Sunday. The victim died from his injuries at the Royal Vitoria Hospital on Monday.

55-Year-Old Man Arrested Over 1976 Murder
A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Northern Ireland 36 years ago. William Palmer, 50, was shot at his home on Milltown Road in 1976. He died three days later in hospital from his injuries. The man was detained on suspicion of murder, possessing a firearm and membership of the IRA.

28-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Violent Ballymena Attack
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a stabbing incident in Ballymena. A man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his head, neck and stomach after he was reportedly attacked at his home in the Grove Road area. The incident is said to have taken place shortly after 4am this morning.
