Appeal Issued After Man Found Dead In South Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a man was found dead at Shaws Bridge in south Belfast.
His body was recovered from the water on Friday, 14 July. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
The PSNI have released images of some of his clothing.
Superintendent Melanie Jones said: "We believe someone out there must know who this man is. He is in his fifties, around 5' 8" tall and was wearing navy blue jeans, a dark belt with a rectangular buckle, a black t-shirt, and silver and navy trainers in a men's size 10. We have today issued images of some of the items he was wearing in hopes that someone may recognise them.
"This male was not carrying any identification and was not wearing any distinctive jewellery, nor does he have any tattoos or piercings. He was however wearing two compression bandages on his left upper arm, and bears an appendix scar. We are hoping that these few details may strike a chord with someone and allow us to find out who this man is.
"I would ask anyone who believes they know this man's identity to please get in touch. Do you recognise the description or the clothing?
I am also appealing to those with male family members or friends that may match this description that you have not seen in recent days, to please call them or check on them.
"We are not treating this death as suspicious but it is important that we can inform the man's loved ones of his passing."

Police in Easter assault appeal
Police today appealed for information following the serious assault of a 19-year-old man in Londonderry on Easter Monday. The incident, which occurred on the Groarty Road between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, left the victim with a fractured jaw an injury which has required the insertion of three steel plates.

Easter Commemorations 'Should Be Dignified And Respectful'
Sinn Féin MLA and policing spokesperson Gerry Kelly has said that all Easter commemorations should be dignified and respectful and that "the days of people wearing masks at commemorations should be over". Mr Kelly said: "This week Easter commemorations were held all over Ireland.

A new DOE road safety advert to encourage more seatbelt wearing is to air tomorrow night on UTV. The move follows news that seven people were killed and thirty six were seriously injured last year as a result of not wearing a seatbelt.

Number of people wearing seatbelts increases
The number of people wearing seat belts in Northern Ireland has increased over the past year, figures have revealed. According to the yearly survey commissioned by the DoE, 91% of drivers and 90% of passengers were recorded as wearing a seat belt for the year April 2003-04, an increase of 1%.
