Pair Arrested Following Robbery In East Belfast

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a shop in east Belfast.

The incident happened at premises on the Upper Newtownards Road just after 8pm on Sunday, 25 June.

The pair, one armed with a hammer, threatened a member of staff and stole bottles of alcohol.

Detective Inspector Richard Thornton said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this crime to get in touch with police. We are particularly keen for anyone who may have mobile footage of this incident to come forward by calling 101 quoting reference number 1212 25/06/17, or if you wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The 47-year-old, who was charged at the weekend with possessing and concealing criminal property but who denies the charges, appeared by video link from Maghaberry Prison and spoke only to confirm his name.

An investigation has been launched following an armed robbery at a fast food outlet in east Belfast. The incident happened at McDonald's in Connswater Retail Park in the early hours of Monday morning, 01 January. A man carrying a suspected firearm approached a member of staff and demanded money.

Armed robbery in east Belfast
Police in east Belfast are appealing for information following an armed robbery yesterday evening. The incident happened shortly after 8.30pm last night, when a man armed with a knife, entered a fast food outlet in the Bloomfield Road area of the city, and threatened staff and demanded that they hand over the contents of a till and a safe.

Further Race-Related Hate Crime Takes Place In Belfast
Police dealt with a number of race-related hate crime, incidents and disorder last night (8 August) in south and east Belfast. In south Belfast, car was set on fire and a window of a house was broken into on Benburb Street. Windows of a house were also smashed in Kilburn Street.

Appeal For Information On Violent Incident In East Belfast
Police have issued an appeal for information on an incident in East Belfast last month that left two teenagers needing hospital treatment. It is understood that a group of male teenagers were involved in a violent incident on Orangefield Lane at around 7.45pm on Saturday 17 October.
