Investigation Launched After Sheep Killed In Newry

Police have launched an investigation after a number of sheep were "brutally killed" and others badly injured in Ballyholland, Newry.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Mass Rock area between 9am and 7pm on Thursday, 22 June, to contact them.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A number of sheep were brutally killed and others badly injured.

"Any information please contact 101 and quote reference 1421 - 22/06/17."

Police Appeal Following 'Brutal And Senseless' Newry Sheep Attack
Police have condemned another "brutal and senseless" attack on sheep in the Ballyholland area close to Newry. The incident is the third such attack on sheep in as many weeks. Chief Inspector Roy Robinson said: "It was reported that three sheep were attacked and killed in the area, sometime between 8.30pm on Wednesday 5 July and 8.

Cyclist Killed In North Down
A cyclist has been killed following a collision with a lorry. It is understood that the victim is male and aged in his 30s. The incident happened on the A1 carriageway outside Newry at about 20:30 on Thursday. The man died in hospital a short time after arrival. No details on the man's identity have been released.
