Former School Damaged In Suspected Arson Attack

Police have appealed for information following a suspected arson attack on a former high school in Newtownabbey over the weekend.

A number of mobile classrooms were extensively damaged by a fire at the disused Newtownabbey Community High School on Rathcool Drive during the afternoon of Saturday, 17 June.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact Newtownabbey Police Station on 101, or for anyone who wishes to remain anonymous, the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Man shot in paramilitary style attack
A 24-year-old man has been treated in hospital for a gunshot wound to his left calf following a paramilitary style shooting in Co Antrim. It is understood that the man was shot at the junction of Green Walk and Rathcoole Drive in Newtownabbey at around 10.45pm on Sunday night.

Vandals target graves at Newtownabbey cemetery
Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information after a number of graves were vandalised at Carnmoney cemetery over the weekend. Reports were received at around 7.10pm yesterday that around 30 graves, which are understood to have been selected at random, had been damaged.

A Northern Ireland council has launched a new campaign aimed at eradicating hate crime. Developed by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and partner organisations, the 'No Hate Here' campaign will work to ensure there is no place in society for any form of hate crime or discrimination.
