Seven Released Over Lorraine McCausland Murder

Seven men arrested in connection with the rape and murder of Lorraine McCausland have been released.

Ms McCausland, 23, was discovered dead beside a stream in the Forthriver area of north Belfast on 08 March, 1987.

A file will be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Four Men Arrested Over Murder Of Lorraine McCausland
Four people have been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a woman in north Belfast in 1987. Lorraine McCausland was found dead beside a stream in the Forthriver area on 08 March. Two men, aged 54 and 65, were arrested in Belfast and two men, aged 53 and 59, were arrested in Antrim.

Three Arrested Over Murder Of Lorraine McCausland
Three people have been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of Lorrine McCausland. The body of the mother-of-two was found beside a stream in Forthriver, north Belfast, on 08 March 1987. Two men, aged 49 and 56, were arrested in Scotland and a 53-year-old man was detained in England.

Girdwood Development Opportunities Discussed
There has been high level discussion of a proposed north Belfast redevelopment with the NI Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland visiting the former Girdwood Army base site and the historic Crumlin Road Gaol. He has met local residents in the nearby Lower Oldpark community as well to discuss the opportunities that may develop.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland MLA, today announced the appointment of Donald Hoodless as Chairman and Professor Peter Roberts as Vice-Chairman to the Board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. The Minister said: "I welcome the appointment of Mr Hoodless and Professor Roberts at this time.

Call For Public To Give Opinions On Fitness-To-Work Assessments
People with experience of the government's fitness-to-work benefit assessments are being asked for their views on how to improve the system. Northern Ireland's Department for Social Development has commissioned a review into the assessments for employment and support allowance, previously known as incapacity benefit.
