Man Charged With Double Murder

A man has been charged in connection with the double murder of two pensioners in Co Armagh.

The bodies of Marjorie and Michael Cawdery, both aged 83, were discovered by a family member in their house in Upper Ramone Park in Portadown on Friday, 26 May.

It is understood they had both been stabbed.

The 40-year-old suspect has also been charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated vehicle-taking.

He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 30 May.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.

Man Charged Following Police Pursuit In North Belfast
A man has been charged following a police pursuit in north Belfast. The incident happened on the Shore Road at around 1.50am on Saturday. A Mercedes car was signalled to stop by police carrying out increased anti-burglary patrols in the Skegoneill area.
