Surprise Belfast date for The Strokes

One of the world's most exciting rock bands are on their way to Belfast, it was announced today.

The Strokes are to play a one-off show at The Ulster Hall this Sunday night as part of their forthcoming European tour.

The Belfast date is just one of four UK gigs, with the band taking in Glasgow, Cardiff and London in support of their new album, 'Room on Fire'.

The American band will be supported by British Sea Power.

Tickets are due to go on sale this Thursday from the usual outlets.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

PSNI Welcome Sentencing Of Joseph McIlvenny
Officers from the Belfast District Support team have welcomed the sentence handed down to Joseph McIlvenny at Newry Crown Court. McIlvenny was sentenced to 20 months, half of which will be served in prison and half on licence for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and importation of class A Drugs.
