Three Women Cut From Van After Crash In Toome

Three women had to be cut from a van by firefighters following a collision in Toome, Co Antrim.

The two vehicle crash happened on the Hillhead Road just after 10pm on Tuesday, 11 April.

The women were taken to hospital, however their injuries are not known.

A statement from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release three women from the van. They were conveyed to hospital by ambulance. Two other female casualties were out of the car before arrival of FRS. Fire crews from Magherafelt station attended the incident."

Police Launch Investigation Following Arson Attack
Police have launched an investigation following an arson attack on a house in west Belfast on Wednesday. Two women, aged 61 and 23, and three children were in the property at the time, however they were not injured. Accelerant was poured through the letterbox and set on fire at around 10.30pm.

Van Ablaze As Road Crash Victim Dies
A van has been left blazing and a man, believed to be in his late 20s, has died following a traffic collision in Co Down. Five other people were taken to the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast, two are understood to be in a critical condition, the other three are said to be stable. The Ballynahinch Road has been closed. Diversions are in operation.

Two Women Working In Café In Belfast Win Equal Pay Claim
Two women working at a café in Belfast have won an equal pay claim. Paulina Paczkowska and Agnieszka Anna Golygowska both worked as floor staff- cum-baristas in the Avoca Café. While they had been doing the same work as a male colleague since May 2013, the male colleague had always received a significantly higher rate of pay.

Police did not use excessive force while responding to a report that a "very drunk" man was wheeling a toddler in a buggy at a play park in Belfast, an investigation by the Police Ombudsman has concluded.

Post Office Van Driver Hijacked In West Belfast
A post office van driver has been hijacked and threatened with a knife in west Belfast. The vehicle was stolen in Ross Road on Tuesday which was later found abandoned in the Valleyside Close area. A security alert was launched and the part of the Springfield Road was closed on Wednesday, however it has since been re-opened.
