Suzanne Wyle Scoops 'Public Sector Of The Year' Accolade
Belfast City Council's Chief Executive Suzanne Wylie has been awarded the 'Public Sector Director of the Year' accolade at the Institute of Directors (IoD) NI First Trust Bank Director of the Year Awards.
Coming from the public, private and third sectors and across a range of industries including communications, construction and manufacturing, the award winners were acknowledged for their proactive approach towards business growth, corporate governance and responsible leadership.
The IoD NI First Trust Bank Director of the Year Award winners were announced at a special lunchtime awards ceremony on Wednesday, 06 April, hosted by broadcaster Barra Best at the Merchant Hotel, Belfast. The 2017 winners are:
• Janet McCollum, Moy Park - Large Company Director of the Year (annual turnover of over £100m) sponsored by First Trust Bank
• Tina McKenzie, Staffline Ireland - Mid-Market Company Director of the Year sponsored by the William J Clinton Leadership Institute
• Norah Anne Barron, Pi Communications - SME Director of the Year (annual turnover of under £10m), sponsored by Ulster University Business School
• Colin Williams, Sixteen South - International Director of the Year sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland

The annual awards honour the achievements and leadership of directors from sectors across Northern Ireland, with category winners then considered for the UK-wide Director of the Year Finals in London.

Good year for Tesco as profits top £1.6bn
It has been a good year for the supermarket retailer Tesco which has seen pre-tax profits soar to £1.6 billion, according to the group's full-year preliminary statement issued today. In addition to driving up pre-tax margins by 17.6%, the company said that it had slashed its debts by £600 million, down to £4.1 billion. In the UK, sales grew by 14.

Belfast Law Firm Appoints New MD
Belfast law firm Cleaver Fulton Rankin has appointed a new Managing Director (MD). Current director Mr Jonathan Forrester has taken up the post. He has worked for Cleaver Fulton Rankin since 1999, having joined the firm as a graduate from Queen's University, with both a law degree and a MSc in Information Management.
