Investigation Launched After Alleged Sexual Assault In South Belfast

Police have launched an investigation following an alleged sexual attack on a woman in south Belfast.

The incident occurred in the Agincourt Avenue area on Tuesday, 21 March.

Police would like to speak to a man who was in a bar in the ann street area from approximately 7.30pm as they believe he may be able to help them with their enquiries.

He is described as being 6ft in height, of average build with a shaved head.

He was wearing a grey hooded top, a jacket and jeans and spoke with a North American accent.

Police are also appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man arrested after drugs find
Police seized a large quantity of Class A drugs, following a planned search at a premises in south Belfast yesterday. An amount of suspected Ecstasy and cocaine, with an estimated street value of £120,000, was recovered during the raid. A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with possession of Class A drugs, with intent to supply.

Man Fatally Stabbed In Belfast Named
Police have named a man who was fatally stabbed in Belfast. Hazem Ahmed Ghreir was attacked in the Downshire Place area in Belfast on Sunday, 04 June. An 18-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned at Musgrave Police Station.

Investigation Launched After Van Found Burnt Out In South Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a van was discovered burnt out in south Belfast. The white Citroën van was found on fire on the Hillsborough Road in Carryduff, close to the Lough Moss Leisure Centre, at around 11pm on Monday, 26 September. A number of people wearing hoodies and tracksuit bottoms were seen fleeing the scene.

Investigation Launched After Firework Thrown At House In South Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a firework was thrown at a house in south Belfast. The incident happened in Cooke Street just before 4am on Sunday, 21 August. A man who was in the house at the time was not injured. The front window of the house was smashed and smoke damage was caused after the firework partially exploded.
