Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A woman has been convicted for claiming benefits she was not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
Maureen McVeigh claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £5,086 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Work Begins On £150,000 Resurfacing Project In Co Down
Work has started on a £150,000 carriageway resurfacing project in Kilkeel, Co Down.
The resurfacing work extends a distance of approximately 1km from its junction with Newcastle Street, Kilkeel, to its junction with Mountain Road.
The work is expected to be substantially completed by 31 March.
Diversions have been put in place.
Businessman Pleads Guilty To Waste Offences
County Antrim businessman Robert Robinson has been fined a total of £400 at Belfast Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to two charges of keeping illegal waste.
The charges are in relation to the illegal deposit of controlled waste on land owned by Mr Robinson at Bellahill Road, Ballycarry.
During a site visit in June 2016, officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency discovered approximately 600 tonnes of controlled waste had been recently deposited on the land.
A former landfill site run by Robert Robinson, the waste authorisation for the land had been surrendered by him in October 2015.
