Man injured in Donaghcloney shooting

Police in Lurgan are appealing for information after a man was shot several times at his home in Donaghcloney.

The man, who is in his 30's, was shot a number of times after he was called to the front door of his Clover Brae house by his partner. The victim managed to make his way to a neighbour's house to seek help.

Taken to hospital, the man's condition was described as serious, but stable.

The attacker is described as being in his 30s, with an English accent, of stocky build and had a beard or a moustache. He was wearaing a woollen hat, jeans, a white T-shirt and a jacket. He escaped in a waiting car.

Police are treating the shooting as attempted murder which suspicion falling on loyalist paramilitaries.

Elsewhere, a teenager has been shot in a paramilitary style attack in Newtownards, Co Down last night. The 18-year-old was walking through playing fields near the Westwinds Estate when he was dragged into nearby bushes and shot in the thigh. The attack took place at around 10pm on Tuesday.

Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". The 43-year-old suspect was detained in L'Derry on Tuesday, 15 August.

Man Shot In Both Legs In L'Derry
A man in his 30s has been shot several times in the legs in Co L'Derry. The shooting attack happened in the Rinmore Drive area at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, 09 August. The victim was shot in each ankle and once in the thigh. He is currently being treated in hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Condemnations Follows Glengormley Shooting
The Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alliance Councillor Billy Webb, has condemned those involved in a shooting in the Mayfield area in which a man was shot in the stomach. The 31-year-old victim has been left in a serious condition in hospital after being shot by two men who entered a house at Mayfield Court, Glengormley, at around 10pm on Wednesday.
