Redevelopment Of Sirocco Site Proposed

A £400 million redevelopment of the former Sirocco site in east Belfast has been proposed by a consortium led by the St Francis Group.

The plans includes the development of almost 70,000 sq m of offices, alongside more than 800 new homes, a hotel and a footbridge across the Lagan to the Waterfront Hall.

The development has been brought forward by Swinford (Sirocco), which is a consortium led by the St Francis Group, Graftongate and Gulf Resources Development and Investment (GRDI).

The 16-acre former Sirocco Works site has been derelict since the closure of the works in the 1999. A previous redevelopment proposal collapsed in 2007 during the property crash.

It is understood Swinford (Sirocco) will now undertake a 12-week community consultation process, before making a formal application for the development.
