Elderly woman confronted by intruder in own home
Police in Newtownards are appealing for information after a man broke into an elderly woman's home at the weekend.
The intruder, who is described as being in his mid 20s, was confronted by 87-year-old Maria Coulter at around 7pm on Sunday.
It is thought the man came in through a bathroom before being confronted by Mrs Coulter as he rifled through a cabinet containing papers.
The man then took a wallet containing a substantial amount of money, before dropping it as he ran off.
The elderly woman was left shocked but uninjured in the incident.
The burglar is described by police as being tall with red hair and was wearing a blue and white shirt with beige trousers.

Elderly woman confronted by knifeman
An elderly woman was recovering today after an armed man confronted her in her north Belfast home yesterday. The 94-year-old was alone in her Knutsford Drive home when the intruder walked in through an open door, laid a knife on a nearby chair, spoke to her, then went upstairs. The man, who made no demands, then later left without taking anything.

An elderly woman has been left badly shaken after a burglary at a house in north Belfast. Police say a premises in the Lismoyne Park area of the city was targeted this afternoon, Thursday 05 March. The resident, aged in her 80s, confronted an unknown male who had gained entry to the property.

Elderly woman robbed at her home
Three men have robbed an elderly woman at her home in Camlough, just outside Newry. The robbery took place at a house on Quarter Road on Monday July 16th just before 7.15pm when the men approached the back door of the house asking for a glass of water. As one stood at the back door asking for the water another talked to the woman from a window.

Police are appealing for information after a woman and her elderly mother had their east Belfast home robbed last night. Three men entered the house at Ranleigh Street, off the Ravenhill Road at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

Eugene Carr: Cash Reward Offered By Daughters
The bereaved daughters of a disabled man who died after he was attacked in his Co Armagh home have offered a cash reward to catch their father's killers. Eugene Carr died in a Belfast hospital in November 2015 some eleven weeks after he was stabbed while in bed in his Bessbrook home. His killers have never faced justice.
