Man Released Over Murder Of Adrian Ismay

A man arrested by police over the murder of prison officer Adrian Ismay has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

The 40-year-old was detained on Monday, 06 February, and was questioned at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite.

Mr Ismay sustained serious leg injuries when a car bomb exploded underneath his van in March 2016. He had been recovering from his injuries at home but later died in hospital after he suffered a heart attack.

A 46-year-old has already been charged in connection with the murder and has been remanded in custody.

A prison officer who was injured after a bomb went off under the van he was driving has died. The incident happened in the Hillsborough Drive area in east Belfast on 04 March. A group calling itself the New IRA claimed responsibility for the attack. A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

Man Charged With Murder Of Prison Officer
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of prison officer Adrian Ismay. Mr Ismay, 52, died after being injured by a bomb which went off under the van he was driving on Hillsborough Drive on 04 March. He died as a direct result of the injuries he sustained during the explosion. The 'New IRA' admitted responsibility for the attack.

Murder Investigation Launched Following Death Of Prisoner Officer
Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a prison officer in east Belfast. Adrian Ismay, 52, died after being injured by a bomb which went off under the van he was driving on Hillsborough Drive on 04 March. Arrest Over Attempted Murder
Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident on the Limestone Road in north Belfast on Friday night. A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries sustained during the attack, in which a number of people are believed to have been involved.
