Blue Plaque Unveiled For Holocaust Survivor Helen Lewis
Dance teacher and Holocaust survivor Helen Lewis has been honoured with the unveiling of a blue plaque at an arts centre in Belfast.
Mrs Lewis, who died in 2009 aged 93, created the first modern dance work in Northern Ireland for the Belfast Ballet Club in 1956, and subsequently founded the Belfast Modern Dance Group, whose first performance was in 1962.
She wrote of her experiences during her early life in her memoir from 1992, A Time to Speak, and was appointed an MBE in 2001. She was also awarded honorary doctorates from the University of Ulster and Queen's University, Belfast.
The plaque was unveiled at the Crescent Arts Centre by the Lord Mayor of Belfast Brian Kingston.

Belfast International Arts Festival Launched
A celebration of home grown and world-renowned talent, the programme for the 57th Belfast International Arts Festival has been launched ahead of the opening event in October. Cuban-born Parisian musician, La Dame Blanche, will headline the festival with a performance at the Belfast Empire, and showcased her material at the launch at the Black Box.

Belfast Cycling Pioneers Honoured
Two Belfast men have been honoured with a plaque detailing the "pivotal role" they played in the development of modern cycling, the City Council has said. On the eve of the Giro d’Italia, inventor John Boyd and cyclist Willie Hume have been commemorated with the plaque, which was unveiled by Lord Mayor of Belfast Máirtín Ó Muilleoir.
