St George's Named 'Best Market Attraction'
Belfast's historic St George's Market has named 'Best Market Attraction' at the annual National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) Awards.
The award has been described as "the significant NABMA award, given to an iconic long standing market".
In their citation, the judges said: "This is a market for others to learn from, and aspire towards, and really is a benchmark for excellence in providing a destination market."
The judges also paid tribute to the market's "huge social media presence".
St George's won the 'Best Large Indoor Market' title at the NABMA awards in 2014, and was voted 'Best Market' at the Observer Food Monthly Awards just this past October. Last year, more than one million people visited the market, with an average of more than 6,500 shoppers passing through its doors each trading day.

Belfast Business Awards On Way
Local businesses successes will be celebrated at a prestigious business awards later this month. UTV's Marc Mallett is looking forward to hosting the Belfast Business Awards which will take place in the City Hall on Thursday 29 April. Space NK.apothecary founder Nicky Kinnaird will co-host the awards alongside the UTV presenter.

St George's Market has been shortlisted in the 'Best Food Market' category of this year's BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards. It is the first time that the Market has reached the final of what is regarded as the 'Oscars' of the UK food industry, and comes just weeks after St George's was named 'Best Large Indoor Market' by trade body NABMA.
